My name is Lauren Johnson.  I'm originally from Queens, New York.   I have been working with students to build their math skills since I moved here to Springfield in 2016.  I worked at the High School of Science and Technolgy  for a few years, before transitioning to middle school.  This is my second year teaching 8th grade math at  Impact Prep Middle School. I am excited about working with all my students and families.

Soy nueva en IMPACT pero no nueva en el sistema escolar de Springfield. Soy nativa de Springfield, donde asistió a la escuela primaria y secundaria. Me gradué con su Licenciatura en Ciencias de Springfield College. Antes de unirme a IMPACT, fui la primera latina en ocupar el puesto de Gerente de Administración de Anestesiología en Baystate Health. Cambié de carrera y llegué a la docencia en lugar de subir la escalera de la administración del hospital porque he aprendido que la educación es uno de los determinantes más importantes y maleables de la salud. Soy un artista escénico que disfruta del canto, el teatro musical, la actuación y Harry Potter.

I am a native of Springfield, Mass., and a fellow Chestnut alumna. This is my third year as a special education teacher at Chestnut Impact and my first year in the special education coordinator role. I have a master’s in education with a concentration in moderate disabilities. I am excited about meeting and partnering with you and your scholar(s) this year.
